Not Your Typical Approach to Speech Therapy
A holistic approach to speech, language and communication therapy for the autistic and neurodivergent community.
Better Together provides a holistic approach to supporting the speech, language and communication differences of autistic and neurodivergent children.
A holistic approach to communication includes understanding of the brain, body and potential of an individual.
We presume competence. We presume the ability to learn. Our therapy is rooted in authentic and meaningful connections and experience.
A Better Approach to Communication
We recognize autism as a neurotype, celebrate neurodiversity, and honor each child’s authentic way of being.
We presume competence and highlight unique strengths- allowing every child to feel respected, capable, and understood.
We implement a sensory and motor informed approach to support regulation, engagement and access to communication.
We prioritize a relationship that fosters safety and inclusion, because that's what matters most!

Our Specialized Services
Early Intervention (Ages 0-3)
When early communication or developmental differences are identified, we are here to develop a clear, supportive plan to nurture communication, build confidence and gain independence. Play-based, practical strategies are shared to support connection and communication between you and your child.
Gestalt Language Processing
Does your child use echolalia or scripting to communicate? Many autistic children are gestalt language processors, and these scripts are meaningful. Through language modeling and some detective work, our goal is to help your child move toward more flexible and original language. We will also support you in becoming an effective and engaging communication partner for your child.
Motor Speech
Speech support for autistic children often includes addressing a variety of motor planning challenges. Apraxia of speech is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult to coordinate the movements needed for talking. Because many autistic individuals experience differences in how the brain connects with the body, therapy focuses on gentle motor-based strategies and whole-body regulation.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
When spoken language isn’t yet a reliable option, we take a total communication approach, recognizing that all forms of communication are valid and valuable. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools, such as gestures, signs, pictures, or speech-generating devices, are introduced to support language development and give your child consistent way to express themselves.

Meet Jesseca, M.S, CCC-SLP
Hi! I’m Jesseca, a dedicated speech and language pathologist with five years of experience supporting autistic and neurodivergent children. With a specialized background in autism, AAC, and sensory integration, I prioritize individualized support that addresses each family's unique needs. My flexible approach allows me to meet clients exactly where they are — and have a lot of fun along the way!
Better Together was founded on the idea that meaningful progress can be achieved without structured, traditional methods. In therapy, I support communication through play, movement, shared joy, or simply being present in a way that feels safe and supportive.
I partner closely with families to create a community based around awareness and acceptance. My practice is guided by neurodiversity-affirming values and a commitment to ongoing learning.
I can't wait to meet you!

FAQs:
What makes Better Together's approach unique?
Traditional speech therapy often focuses on specific speech sounds or language milestones, sometimes using structured drills or repetition to teach communication. Similarly, behavioral based approaches often aim to shape language or behavior through rewards and reinforcement, with an emphasis on reducing what’s seen as “non-typical” behavior.
These methods may not always take into account how autistic and neurodivergent children naturally learn and communicate. Better Together takes a holistic approach that respects each child’s neurotype, communication style, and sensory and motor needs. We presume competence and trust that every child has the potential to communicate. We just need to find the approach that works best for them!
